  the role. observe all on site and legislative rules and regulations in terms of health and safety, food safety and environmental. to continuously improve the production operations. this includes: specifically fine tuning production equipment to increase output. complete electro-mechanical repairs to high speed food processing, handling and packaging equipment. to maintain appropriate recording and reporting systems on all engineering related matters (e.g., breakdowns, maintenance etc.) technical support for the plant facilities & services including compressed air, steam, refrigeration and effluent plant. update the preventative maintenance management system including stores transactions and work carried out. ensure all machine parts are promptly ordered as required. responsible for completion of all planned maintenance routines both inside & outside of normal hours as required. utilisation of all resources such as manuals, service contracts and external contractors to aid in breakdown recovery. control of contractors and acting as liaison person when required. full utilisation of all current and new it/processing system. to fully participate in companywide continuous improvement initiatives, working in teams as required and utilising appropriate quality tools as applicable. to fully participate in companywide continuous improvement initiatives, working in teams as required and utilising appropriate quality tools as applicable.   the person. relevant trades qualification (e.g. qualified electrician) qualification or a time served apprenticeship in a high volume, automated manufacturing environment. 2-3 years’ experience as a maintenance technician in a production environment is desirable. experience with both electrical and mechanical maintenance within an automated manufacturing environment. must possess a multi-skilled cross-skilled ethos with an electrical/electronic bias. previous experience in a high volume, automated manufacturing environment. computer literate. excellent english verbal and written communication skills. aptitude for electrical and mechanical process awareness, diagnostics, trouble-shooting experience gained in a high volume food or beverage processing environment. ability to remain calm and focused. strong communication skills with ability to work as part of a team. open to new ideas/work practices with an understanding of the principles and tools of a lean manufacturing environment. ability to cope with multiple tasks. hartley people recruitment work to the highest ethical standards within our industry and we value the trust that you place in us when you send your cv. if you meet the criteria for this position, we will provide a full consultation in confidence and we guarantee that your cv will not be sent to any of our clients without your consent. for immediate consideration please email your cv to  lauren  in response to this job posting.  .
